    the blog

This is my first blog post. I am writing this while I sit in my kitchen after a long day of filming, editing and presenting to client. Right now, I am busy filming and directing an AV for 22Seven, a visionary personal financial management service which is going to be available online soon. Our deadline is Thursday and had very little time to prep and execute. Despite the humble budget and time restriction, two things excite me the most about this project:

First that this is a financial tool which will be available to anyone who can go online. It aims to be simple and effective and empower anyone who uses it to make informed financial decisions. Big words indeed, but what it effectively means is that you become aware of where your money really goes and stop spending on things you think you need but rather on what makes you happy.

Second is that the team is great. CD Livio is inspiring to work with and the development team at 22Seven are a committed bunch of code masters with lots of brain power and good will.

At the end of edit day one, interviews look good. I shot everything on Canon 5D Mark II with two different Canon zoom lenses using Technicolor’s CineStyle picture style setting. Looks slick and with minimal lighting colour contrast and tonal range look great.

Filming cutaways in Cape Town tomorrow, going solo hunting for images. While I enjoy the spoils of a big set with lots of help and plenty of gear, sometimes filming alone is thrilling. The process is like  instances of  intuition linked in a chain. Listening to an inner voice uncluttered .

With all this noise around, tuning to your own signal is the most important thing. Especially because it enables you to connect to others who do the same.
